Memory from Angie Brack Parkerson - class of 59 I had looked forward
to this homecoming for a very long time. Since last year, some
of us had said we wondered whatever happened to so and so..... I had spent
months preparing the 1959 boards. I couldn’t wait for the reaction
from the participants. It seemed to go over well. I found out
from some that attended and had not sent me their reply, what they have done
with their lives. Guess, I can just keep adding to.......
My second stand out memory is of the awards given out during the meeting on Saturday. Vernon was so deserving, and we can be proud that he represents us on the board. Of course, the award to Ms. Fabrick was so special to so many. I just wish she could have been there. The other one, when given, brought tears to many many eyes. When the daughter of the honoree and her family came on stage, as a surprise to her parents, with her singing, “Wind Beneath My Wings,” we all started crying. Or, to say the least, Susan and I did!!!!! They had traveled all night coming from Arkansas, to be there, after fooling their parents by saying they could not come. It was indeed, very touching!!
It is so interesting to learn that some of the community students thought at the time, that we, the dorm students, thought we were better off than they. I always felt the opposite. It is wonderful that after all of these years, through this site, we are renewing and deepening friendships of so long ago. Somehow, I feel closer to some of you now, than I do to some of my current friends. --Angie Brack Parkerson-- Memory From Martha Ann Cornette Mann - Class of 56 ![]() Love ya, Martha Ann
Memory From
Aa ron Perry - Class of 58 I
t would be difficult for us to single out a single event or place that
would be the highlight of Homecoming. There were just so many people,
places and time spent with friends that none cannot be the most important.
Jo Ann and I enjoyed every minute of our trip and look forward to next
year. Jo Ann and I both enjoyed all of the "hugs".
As you know, this was the first time I had returned to the school in many years and I realize how much that the time there has influenced our life. For Jo Ann, it was an opportunity to make new and lasting friendships. The Friday night bash and the cook out were really enjoyable and gave us an opportunity to renew and "catch-up" with what has happened in our lives since we last met. The Sunday service was truly the most impressive and touching. When the names were called and we stood to acknowledge the connection to those no longer with us, one could not help recalling the friendships, time shared and laughter echoing across the years.

Memory From Highlights
of HC 2002:
1. The camaraderie of everyone Fri. night and Sat. night. It was so good seeing classmates and meeting those who were not classmates. 2. The chapel meeting Sunday morning. The remembrance of those who have passed on is always touching, but the address by Dr. Beaver was excellent. Since I had to miss the events of the day Sat. I'm sure I missed other highlights.
Memory from Carolyn Carnes Brewer - Class of 51 MEMORIES OF HOMECOMING 2002 Excitement was building up...two weeks before June 7th I was already counting the days. Writing to classmates who might not know the details of the fun planned week-end of HC 2002. Five days before homecoming brushing final details onto the beef barn...wondering if anyone, anyone person would purchase a raffle ticket of the labor-overed canvas. Hour after hour standing at the dinning table with a paint brush in my hand, changing this color and that color anything to make the memories burst into the minds of class mates who had labored in that barn as they worked long hours ticking up coins to pay for their schooling.
Friday finally arrived and driving into the drive way at the Heritage Center gazing at all those people on the porch, they looked like they were having a rock-a-thon and NO ONE had better be sitting in my rocker!!!! Sounds like the story of the Three Bears, doesn’t it? I couldn’t wait to get a view of each person’s name tag and start putting faces with names. Man did I love all the sugar that I got.....yum...yum... And there was the rocker given in memory of my dear parents....just waiting for me to flop into.
On to the house party later in the evening and getting to meet more of my newly acquired friends. What a joyful time we all had at the house party. I was soooooo glad to finally meet Bob Clackum. He was the high light of that evening. Also getting to see Bill Coleman and Harold Thurmond. I enjoyed talking with everyone. Gail Thurmond and I had an enjoyable visit, I felt like I had always known her. It was wonderful hearing the good life she and Harold have had. Cousins Carol and Dennis so good to see them too and remembering all the wonderful times I had visiting in their home when we all were involved in youth activities at Wolfork Baptist.
The picnic at the Kelly’s Park was a highlight in itself. I kept seeing this beautiful young lady and couldn’t for the life of me figure who she was. Until my husband told me he had been talking to her husband Albert Beck and then I knew this beautiful model was none other than my cousin Shirley Keener. I hope she will forgive me for all of the stares as I tried to figure out who was this girl straight out of Hollywood. Also saw Cousin Tim Dickerson and Cousin Twigg Smith. There is just something special about we Wolfork cousins, we don’t even have to try to out shine the rest of the world. I can mention all of these blood-kin-cousins, but since we have started gathering at home comings and have the MyFamily website, I feel related to each and everyone of you in a very special God given love-ship. I look forward to hearing from you through this year on our site. May God Bless all of we during this year and bring us back once again in 2003 to the Holy Ground of Rabun Gap Nacoochee. We cheer as we come a marching to the school we love so well......
