James Smith - Class of 53 Lee and I were most impressed with the warm welcome we received from people we had never met. Yet we feel like we did not meet a stranger. I guess the highlight for me was seeing old friends and making new ones. I enjoyed going through the old dairy barn and mule barn with Charlie Underwood, we had a good afternoon. Most of all we enjoyed the whole thing.
Memory from Another memory...............is Bob Welden and Harold Thurmond.
Memory from In 1958, Phil Landers and Aaron Perry were two of the best friends a girl could have. At Homecoming 2001, I saw Phil for the first time since 1958 and it was THE highlight of that reunion. This year when Aaron told me he was coming, I knew it was going to be a special reunion for the three of us. What a joy to be with my buddies again and to have them meet my husband Jim. Last year when Phil introduced me to Linda, I knew he had been blessed with a wonderful wife. This year I felt the same when I met Aaron's JoAnn. Thanks guys for all the wonderful memories we share and for making me feel 18 again when I am with you. Love you guys.
Memory From
The reunion was special this year for many reasons but the most outstanding event for me was the recognition of Miss Fabrick for her devoted service to RGNS and her students by Dale Denham Shaffield and Fern Dodd Strickland. Miss Fabrick was a dedicated and loving teacher. She respected and loved each of us as individuals. She taught by example as well as in the classroom. She was strict but never stern. She was prim and proper, always dignified, but not without a sense of humor. She was a disciplinarian but never mean-spirited. When she taught her Bible courses, the focus was always on "our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" and her life continues to bring glory and honor to His name.
The Memorial Service honoring those who have gone before us meant a lot to me personally. I felt a great warmth and comfort when the group stood to honor my sister, Jane.
The good food and fellowship capped off a very meaningful 2002 reunion.

Memory From On June 7th, 8th and 9th, I was at RGNS for the annual Homecoming. What a wonderful time. It pleases my heart to see how everyone was so happy to see each other. There was several people there that I had not see in "fifty years". After talking with them for a few minutes, it was a though I had seen them last year.
How good it was to see James Smith and the "three" Ward brothers. Next year I'm sure they will return because they enjoyed it so much this year. When I tell my friends about our "Great Reunions", they just can't believe that so many "Alumni" still come to this school. What deep roots we all seem to have at RGNS, the love for each other as well as the love for this "great" school, has followed us for years and will continue to follow us all the days of our lives, as well as the deep faith in God we all share. All of this was taught to us by some wonderful teachers that gave so much of their lives to this school.
God has blessed and I'm sure will continue to bless such a wonderful school. I'm so glad to be an "Alumna" of Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. See you in 2003.
Memory From
I think the binding factor for those of us at RGNS is that we were
there because home was not there for us, not enough money, not enough room
in the house, divorce, death, remarriage lots of reasons we needed to be
someplace else. God of course had a plan for each of us and His plan
was to have us there. We formed our own family, unique, caring, very
special.
Memory note to Beverly
from Robbin Shope Houston - Class 0f 58 Of course I did enjoy the reunion and seeing everyone again. My husband also enjoys my reunions as he knows several of the people there. He enjoyed talking with you and Hazel. Of course we always enjoy being with Vicki and Carolyn. I'm glad you let Bud know we missed him. Wasn't it great to see Tim D.,Aaron, and Fritz. I hadn't seen them in ages. Seeing you is always a highlight and know we'll have a great 45th.
